Coaches Corner for June 15
Morning, Barracuda Family.
(1) Wellington Meet
I cannot tell you how proud the coaches were with this weekend's meet. We had over 50% time improvements. We had 20 swimmers legally complete an event for the first time. We had wonderful parents who met the delays with kindness and patience. We have an amazing coaching staff who never stops helping your kids.
(2) Morning Practices
On Monday, June 16, we switch to morning practices. This will be the schedule for the remainder of the season.
13 and over - 7:15-8:15am
11 and 12 - 8-9
9 and 10 - 8:45-9:45
Eight and under - 9:30-10:30
You notice that there is a 15 minute overlap between groups. During those 15 minutes, we will do dryland (exercise out of the water), ribbons, or deep end work. Make sure your swimmers have a towel and sneakers. Also, water and air are getting warm. All swimmers must have water.
(3) Little Cudas
Session A starts on Monday from 9:30-10:30am. All new parents will meet me and Coach Bella at 9:30 at the start of the session. We welcome our newest future RWB stars to the family.
(4) Adult Swim
This week, from 8-9am, adults will get their own coached practice. It is a program that we started last year, and I loved coaching it. Please see the website to RSVP.
(5) Old Bridge Breakers Meet
On Saturday, June 21, we welcome the Old Bridge Breakers to our pool. Make sure that you complete the RSVP link ASAP. Coach Cam and I want to publish the meet sheet on Wednesday so we can inform the swimmers of their coming races. All RSVP must be done by Tuesday, June 17 at 7pm. The timeline for home meets:
RWB Swimmer Check In - 5:15-5:50am
RWB Warm-Up - 6-6:25
Meet Starts - 7am
Meets run much more smoothly when parents know their swimmers' heats and lanes. I will post the heat sheet and push it out to the app by Friday afternoon.
(6) Timers (from Chief Timer Brian Harper)
Timers and Recorders: I wanted to say Thank You to all the volunteers that have participated in our first two meets. I do not recall a time where anything has happened like this in the past and you all have been flexible, kept a sense of humor, and stayed around. Here is to smooth sailing here on out.
(7) Parent Volunteers Reminders (from Volunteer Head Shala Ott)
Volunteers are still needed for our home meet on Saturday, June 21. Volunteering Reminders: -each family needs to complete 10 shifts per season ($25 fee for each unfilled shift) -there is a 3 shift limit per family/per meet (later in the season it will be unlimited) -the deadline for asking for reduced shifts or no shifts and to not be charged the fee is June 18 (form is under the volunteering tab on the website) -email Shala with questions ([email protected])
(8) Oakwood Make-Up
We have one lane at Oakwood Pool for swimmers (not Little Cudas) who cannot make the morning practice from 4-5pm. Please RSVP me if interested. Since we only have one lane, we might have to break the group into two.
Thanks to all, especially the wonderful fathers who make this season happen.
Coach John
