Volunteering
The RWB is a fun, family team. When your children join the team, the whole family becomes Barracudas. As such, everyone must participate and volunteer.
During swim meets, our parents take on many different roles that are all essential to running a meet. Whether timing, scoring, recording, working concessions, officiating, or holding a seat on our Board of Directors, each summer season provides multiple ways to call yourself a Barracuda!
Volunteer Requirement
Each registered family must complete at least 10 volunteer assignments or shifts before the end of the season. Families with swimmers only in the Lil' Cudas developmental program do not have to fulfill the volunteer requirement. More information on how to sign-up, manage, and complete your volunteer assignments will be provided before the start of the season. Each missed assignment will incur a $25 penalty. No swimmer will be allowed to register for the following year if there are outstanding penalties.
If you will not be able to complete the ten volunteer shifts and have a reason you should not be charged, you will need to fill out the Volunteer Exemption Request form by June 21, 2026. Volunteer exemptions will be voted on by the Barracudas Board of Directors and you will receive notice of the decision via email by June 30.
Families can also donate volunteer credits to other families once their 10 shifts are completed. Complete the Volunteer Credits Donation form to donate hours to another family by July 18.

Easy positions with a good view of the pool
| Timer |
*Timer/Recorder Training Video (scroll down to Timers & Recorders & Runners Heading) Great for first time volunteers. Use a stopwatch to time the swimmers. 2-3 timers per lane. |
| Recorder |
*Timer/Recorder Training Video (scroll down to Timers & Recorders & Runners Heading) Make sure the correct swimmer is in the right lane and record the swimmer's time (as reported by the lane timers) on the "Timer Sheet" at the completion of the race. 1 recorder per lane. This position gets a seat! |
| Heat Ribbons | Stands poolside and awards heat ribbons to each heat winner. |
| Marshal | Controls traffic flow in and around the pool deck to prevent injury or interference with meet operations. |
| Clerk of Course Volunteers | Helps to organize swimmers before their events. |
| Runner | Collect time cards from the recorders and DQ slips from the officials and deliver them to the computers after odd numbered events. |
| Concessions | Set-up, sales, and clean up of the concession area. |
| Set Up | Prepare the deck for the meet. Must be at the pool by 5:30AM but this is only a 1.5 hour shift. |
| Take-Down | Removing lane lines and backstroke flags, returning tables, chairs, and lounges to their original spots, and disassembling temporary pavilions and picking up all lost and found items. By approximately 12:30 pm the pool should be ready to re-open to the public. This is a one hour shift! |
| Trash | Monitors and collects trash during and after the meet and places it in the proper receptacle. |
| Concessions Donations & Friday night Concessions Preparations | Each family may donate food or beverages one time per season that will count as 1 volunteer shift. This also includes concessions preparation support on the Friday evening before the meet. |
| Computer support, verifier, scorer | These are seated positions in the shade!! Help score, verify and enter the swimmers' times as they come in. |
