Coaches Corner for June 29

Greetings, Barracuda Nation!

(1)  Stonewall Park Meet

What an amazing meet.  We earned almost 50% time improvement.  We cut our DQ's in half, and we won by about 1000 points.  I was very proud of so many first time swims who got legal times for the season.  Was the music too loud?  Am I too old?

(2)  Divisionals for Swimmers

We do not have a meet this weekend because of the July 4th holiday.  I want to outline the rules for the Divisional Championship Meet that ends our season on Saturday, July 25.  It is a three team meet, at our pool, against Southbridge and Montclair.  To swim, a swimmer needs to have competed in at least TWO dual meets and have a legal time in that swim.  There are no specific time standards.  Last year, we won the title, and we will work toward that goal again.  Much, much more later.  I just wanted to share the basics as we plan ahead.

(3)  Update for Parent Volunteers

From Shala-New volunteer shifts have been added for our next home meet that are about 1 hour each. 1 hour parking lot shifts are still available as well. These are in the sign up calendar under Barracudas Parking Lot Monitor Sign Up.

(4)  Masters Swim Schedule

We will offer Masters (adult) swim this week from Monday - Thursday.  I plan on moving the start time back about 15 minutes so that the adult swimmers and RWB swimmers enter at the same time.

(5)   Pool Use Update

The water at the pool is getting very warm.  Make sure your swimmers have water bottles with them, by their practice lane, for all practices.  Let's help our wonderful guard staff by returning any chairs or tables that we move.  The deep end will be closed to non-practice swimmers unless specific permission is given by Coach Cam or me.  I know it is hot, but we love to use that extra space for individualized instruction.

(6)  Little Cudas

On Monday, at 10am, the Little Cuda Session A will have their Meet.  Rain forced the postponement.  From 9-10am this week, we welcome Session B to their first practice.  I know that there will be some overlap of swimmers, but we wanted to make sure that we held their first (of hopefully many) swim meets.  The growth that the swimmers have shown is extraordinary.

Thanks for all the support.  The team continues to impress all with the quality of my wonderful coaching staff, supportive parents and exceptional kiddos.

Coach John
