Coaches' Corner for June 7

Morning, Barracuda Nation.

(1)  DALE CITY MEET

What a wonderful morning.  We defeated our friends from Dale City, and we earned over 45% time improvement from last year's times. We saw 25 swimmers participate in their first meet as Barracudas, and the parent volunteers dealt with power outages and first meet chaos with their usual grace.  Very, very proud.

(2)  PRACTICE SCHEDULE

This is our last week of afternoon/evening practices.  We switch to mornings next week.  On the website, you can see the schedule under the schedule tab for morning practices which start on Monday, June 15.  This week, we will focus on DQs and introducing a bit more conditioning as well as stroke improvement.  The weather is warming up, so water bottles are required for all swimmers.

(3)  ASHLAND MEET

On Saturday, June 13, we visit the Ashland Stringrays.  Visit their website:

https://ashlandstingrays.swimtopia.com/visiting-te...

for information about their pool and the rules.  The timeline:

RWB Swimmer Check-In: 5:45-6:20am in the visiting team area

RWB Swimmer Warm-Up: 6:25-6:50

RWB Relay Org and Cheers: 6:55

First Event: 7

Theirs is a SIX lane pool, and their team is much bigger than Dale City's.  This meet will be much longer, so please plan ahead.  The meet will end around 1 (not a promise).

(4)  ATTEND/DECLINE

As was true last week and will be true for the rest of the season, you must complete attend/decline by Wednesday, June 10 by 8pm.  We did a very good job with this last week, and we need that to be standard operating procedure for the rest of the season.  It helps the coaches so much!

(5)  LAST DAY OF SCHOOL

We will celebrate the end of a very, very, very long school year on Friday, June 12.  AFTER (not before) practice, swimmers can enjoy an ice cream treat between 5-7:30pm.

Thanks!

Coach John
