Coaches' Corner for July 5
Good morning, Barracuda Fam. I hope you enjoyed your fourth and a rare Saturday morning of sleeping in.
(1) Swimmer Health
Broken record - the weather is dreadfully hot. All swimmers MUST have water bottles with them for all practices for the rest of the season. The water temp only goes one way at this point of the summer; it will get warm in the pool, too.
(2) Little Cuda Meet
On Friday, July 10, our Little Cudas enrolled in Session B will do their first mini-meet from 9-10am. Come and see all they have learned.
(3) 12 and under Party
On Tuesday, July 7, from 6-9pm, we will have the pool (just us) for our annual 12 and under party. We will provide pizza, and you should sign up online (click RSVP) and bring a side of your choice (drinks or desserts).
(4) Oakwood
We will offer Oakwood make-up practice this week from 4-5 on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. We will not offer it on Tuesday because of the 12 and under party. RSVP below.
(5) Swimmer Sportsmanship
Two things to focus on this week in the area of sportsmanship. First, and we are doing well on this, all swimmers should stay in the pool until ALL swimmers in the heat are done. This is an unwritten rule of good sportsmanship among swimmers. Second, all relay swimmers will remain with their relay (even when their leg of the race is done) until the race is over. There is no reason for a backstroker (for example) to be back at their tent before the medley relay is done.
(6) Parent Volunteers and Divisionals
(from Shala) - Divisional volunteer sign-up will open on July 11. (from me) - Attend/decline is open for swimmers for the meet now.
(7) Home Meet with Wellington
On Saturday, July 11, we host our final dual meet of the season against Wellington. Complete attend/decline by Wednesday at noon. The timeline for home meets:
RWB Swimmer Check In - 5:20-5:50am
RWB Warm-Up - 6-6:30
WELL Warm-Up - 6:30-7
Meet Starts 7:05
Meet Ends - Noon (here's hoping)
Please keep all swimmers off deck during swimmer check in and WELL warm-up. Wellington has one of the largest teams in the league, and they deserve their space.
Thanks!
Coach John
