Coaches' Corner for July 19

(1)  Braemar Meet

I could not be more proud of our swimmers, coaches and parents for the Braemar meet.  As of the start, we had over 30 swimmers out.  Our swimmers adapted to the changing schedule, relays and pace of meet without complaint and with class.  Our coaches reorganized relays, helped little swimmers navigate the famous lily pad starts and encouraged our swimmers to some legal swims and best times.  Our parents stepped to volunteer extra shifts so that we could cover for those who were not there.  Amazing!

(2)  Practice Schedule

With rain, the pool temp should be more comfortable.  It will still be hot in the water and on the pool deck.  Water is required for all swimmers.  The deep end and shallow end will be closed to all swimmers who are not working with a specific coach.  We will monitor the weather, air and pool conditions.  More important than anything we can do in the water, we need to be healthy for the big meet.  Please keep sick swimmers home.

(3)  Parent Volunteers

Volunteer Update:

Thank you to every family who has reached their 10-shift requirement already, and a special thanks to those who have contributed even more! The coaches and board truly appreciate your dedication to making our meets run smoothly!

We still need roughly 50 volunteers for Divisionals, including concession donations. Please sign up to finish your shifts or just to support the team!

(4)  Little Cuda C Meet

Our last Little Cuda meet is on Friday morning from 8:30-9:30am.  Come see all that your swimmers have learned.

(5)  Divisionals Entries

First, remember the rules for Divisional participation.  Note - these are not my rules - they are the League's so there is no room for debate.  Swimmers must have done TWO meets and have a legal time in the swim.  Most of you have already completed ATTEND/DECLINE.  Thanks.  We are working on the meet sheet this weekend.  Coaches are placing swimmers in events which will give us the best chance to win.  We decide.

(6)  Divisional Timeline

On our website, please check out the Divisional Information link under "Meets and Events."  We are hosting two other teams - both bigger than ours.  Our team area is different.  Be ready to share the space with members of our team and tent  only our team area.  We are Team A.

RWB Swimmer Warm-Up - 5:30-6am

RWB Swimmer Check In - Team Area - 6-6:45am

Meet Starts 7:15

Meet Ends - Eventually

During SB and LR warm-up (6-7am), no RWB swimmers will be on deck.  We will call for relay swimmers around 7.

After the completion of the last relay, we will have a 10 minute pause to prepare for our last two unofficial events.  We will run one heat of a parents' relay and one heat of a coaches' relay.  If you are interested, let's talk at the pool this week.

(7)  Pep Rally

On Friday, July 24, we will host our final pasta pep rally of the year.  Come swim with your friends or just help decorate the walkway with sidewalk chalk. We'll start serving spaghetti at 7:30.

(8)  Awards Night

We will have our final event together on Sunday, July 26.  Arrive at the grassy area behind the creative preschool at 4:30 for set-up. Don't forget your chairs! Pot-Luck will begin at 5 followed by the awards ceremony. Afterwards we will move to the pool for one last splash together!

Almost there.  Let's end the season with fast times and class.

Thanks

John
